This meet is
named after the late Tom Finlan Jr. who was a runner for Preble in the mid-80's. Tom was an exemplary student/athlete who
maintaned a 4.0 student while being one of the top runners in the state of Wisconsin. His Cross Country
career was highligted by conference and sectional titles as well as being a key member of the 1984 Wisconsin state championship
team. Tom was the ultimate teammate and friend to everyone who was a part of the Preble Cross Country program.
The summer before he was to go to Brown University on a full scholarship, Tom was killed in an accident while preparing
for the upcoming Cross Country season. Following his death, the Preble Relays were changed to the Tom Finlan Memorial
Relays in rememberance of Tom's excellence.
